Soldat 1.4 announced This has happened before. I promised just to fix bugs in the next version but I`m terrible at keeping promises. The next version will be called 1.4 and will have some major improvements.

Apart from bug fixes (like hit registering), completely rewritten lobby server code (which means faster servers list with more options), ability to resize the Soldat window without use of external programs, full support for UNICODE (asian fonts included), there will also be some new features for registered players. If you`re registered you will have the possibility to change Soldats resolution! From default 640x480 to 1280x1024 for example. Also there will be an option for a minimap which shows the whole map and your teammates! (the minimap won`t give special advantages, nothing will be displayed beyond what you see with the name tags on the screen borders).

If you want to see how this all looks like, check this page. Amongst the features there are screenshots. So check it out and remember that once 1.4 is out the price of registration will go from 9$ to 12$ and later even more! So hurry up.

SCTFL10 sign-ups open The sign ups for one of the oldest and most succesful Soldat leagues, Soldat Capture the Flag league have been opened. The league will begin soon after the long-awaited new version of Soldat will be released.

If you play in a clan and want to fight against other clans, SCTFL is for you! With hundreds of clan wars played every season, its a good chance to test your skills and get to know other clans and players. Make sure to read the rules before signing up.

New anti-cheat for Soldat I am happy to announce that the next version of Soldat will bring some changes in the anti-hacking department. It will contain the anti-cheat engine BattlEye. It is a new library capable of detecting various types of hacks with an automatic update feature to prevent new hacks all the time. Finally Soldat will have a reliable anti-cheat mechanism and I can focus on better things. Read more about BattlEye.

The Covenant

Mankind's sworn enemy, the Covenant is bent on destroying the human race. There are many different kinds of Covenant.

-Grunts

The Grunts are the lowest ring on the chain. They are partners to the Elites and are easy to wipe out. They come in many different ranks, the lowest being normal and the highest being Black Ops. They are small and they look like a creature with a carrot sticking out of their back.

-Jackals

The Jackals are next in line. They walk around with Plasma Pistols and are sometimes annoying to take out. The normal Jackals walk around unprotected, while the level 2 Jackals and up carry around shields, which deflect attacks when fired on. You can easily wipe out their shields with a frag or plasma Grenade, but i just throw them over their heads, and behind them, to kill them quickly. Some people have different strategies (post one as a comment to add) but i find that the grenade strategy works the best. They can be annoying in legendary but otherwise there's no problem with them unless you're new to the Halo.

-Elites

The elites are where the Covenant get serious. They are a bit stronger than the Jackals and have Grunts following them around at almost all times. They start as regular, blue Elites with a small energy shield. When they are higher, they vary in colours. The highest Elite is the Honor Guard (Halo 2) and they carry around yellow armour that changes colour between a dark orange and a bright yellow. They can use Active Camouflage, so beware. They sort of distort the vision so you can see them, and if they carry around an Energy Sword, they are visible in Active Camo like a lit up christmas tree. Still, in Legendary they are lethal.

-Hunters

The Hunters are a big fat pain in the ass. They are huge, and some of them carry around Fuel Rod Cannons fused into their right arm. They usually travel in pairs and packs, so if you kill one, they go no a "I'm-gonna-kill-you-with-my-big,-shiny,-metal thing" rampage. They can only be damaged by nailing their orange parts on their head or stomach with a gun or if you're extremely insano good at Halo 2, melee those parts without getting your face crunched in. They are extremely deadly in Legendary and are to be avoided in said difficulty at ALL TIMES. My advice- in Legendary, let the Marines take care of them, or ram them with a Warthog/other vehicle.

-Brutes

The Brutes are twice as annoying. They are the first Honor Guards for the Prophets, and they carry around little yellow flags. They almost always run at you with their oversized fists or a special weapon, the Brute Shot. It has a blade on the bottom and shoots grenades. They are expert Covenant and even in Heroic they are near-indestructible. Still, let the Marines handle them or stick them.

-The Prophets

-Mercy

Mercy is the fiercest of the Prophets. He is always willing to deal the Covenant Judgment on any Heretic. He dies at the end of the level "Gravemind" when he gets attacked by an Infection form Flood.

-Regret

In Halo 2, in the storyline level "Regret", you follow him around on the Delta Halo Lake, and after the big building, you engage in serious combat against him. The only way to take him down is to jump on his chair and beat the merdre out of him. He goes down after about 12 hits. He's easy.

-Truth

Truth is the only surviving prophet at the end of the game Halo 2. He escapes with the Covenant fleet and Master Chief (secretly). He is a somewhat annoying Covenant.

-Tartarus

Tartarus is the Brute Leader. He carries around some insane hammer that looks like it could flatten master chief to a pancake. He is the prophets' right hand man. He is a big, hairy Covenant and is the end boss of Halo 2, in the mission "The Great Journey". He is the most difficult Covenant and his shield is insane. He dies somewhat difficult, but in Legendary his shield goes down like 1% every hit. He is the Covenant behind the destruction of the 2nd Halo.

-The Arbiter

The Arbiter is a playable character is Halo 2. He is an Elite who is against the Heretics and is on Tartarus' side. In The Great Journey he teams up with Sgt. Johnson and goes to take down Tartarus after a hilarious scene of Sgt. Johnson blowing the door open on a building with the Scarab Beam, along with the most memorable catchphrase, "Hey bastards! Knock, Knock...".

Non-Covenant Enemies Siding with the Covenant

-Sentinels

Sentinels are floating machines who fire lasers at you. For a while in Halo 3, they are friendly as you are following him into the building to activate Halo, but after you blow the bolts off of Guilty Spark, they go against you. Tip, if you have a Drone in your inventory, don't activate them after you annihilate GS, they'll go against you as well. You can pick up their Beams and use them as weapoons similar to the Spartan laser, only they're constant, no charge time, no guidance beam and they run out easier, as well as less power. There are orange beams and blue ones, the blues are very powerful as opposed to the non-weapon of choice orange Sentinel Beams.

-343 Guilty Spark

343 Guilty Spark is the Monitor from Halo 1, who survives after you destroy it, and is your friend throughout those games. He mentions in Halo 1 that the Halo projects from the Forerunners are for studying the Flood, and when you blow up Halo 1, he is presumed to float over to Halo 2, on his own. He also appears yet agian on Halo 3, but there you must face off against him, but beforehand, he reveals that Mastr Chief is a Forerunner himself, but not much about that is released commonly. He is a floating machine with a blue center when he is on your side, but when Johnson says that the only way to activate Halo 3 is to destroy the Ark, Guilty Spark declines, then Johnson pisses him off and says, "Deal with it." Bad move. Guilty Spark reveals a laser from where his blue orb is, and blasts Johnson in the back with it, nearly killing him. He says, "UNACCEPTABLE, ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!" and blasts Chief, who survives. Then, the Arbiter walks in, and Spark naiils him, too, who also survives. Then, you get in a fight, blow him up (HE'S EASY AS HELL), witness Johnson's death (haha) and flee. The end.

Anyway, if you're wondering what a mod is, look below.

What is a mod?

a mod is a modification, usually of a certain popular video game. Mods are used for fun, and they can be very cool at times. The most popular games that are modded are none other than what our site is about... The Halo Trilogy. People mod Halo in many different ways, sometimes they make it so Plasma Rifles shoot frags, or make it so you can fly a Gauss Warthog Gun. Every mod is unique, and mods can be very fun to use and create.

What is a modder?

A modder is a person who mods games. Usually they are disgraced, but i don't know why. Sometimes modders use their mods for malicious purposes, like on Xbox Live, or sometimes they put viruses in, but you have to be an extremely skilled modder to do that. Not many modders use their mods for bad things, but sometimes, you never know. I don't think modders are bad people. They have a right to make their own versions of games, and they can play them as much as they want on their own Xbox at their house. If they use them for Xbox Live, then that's different. People shouldn't use mods for their own benefit and for other people's expenses. That's just not fair. But modders are people too, some of them smarter than all of us here combined! I think they are very experienced people, and I respect them. Thanks!

How do you work a Madness Mod?

You just click on the mods section, then click on a mod. If it says that some scripts are used in some other mods, then people use smoe of the certain mod's scripts. If it says that the mod took some scripts from a mod, then that mod has some scripts from a different mod inside of it. To play a mod, just click on it then click open in a new window. Then have fun! Some mods have cheats, and almost all of them have bullet time. Have ufn on the Madness Series!

Johnson's Cigar

You can find Johnson's Cigar in the level The Armoury on any difficulty. You go up the elevator, and get off. then, turn right and you'll see a garbage can. melee it at a 45 degree angle to the left and you'll uncover Johnson's Cigar on the ground. You might want to turn your flashlight on as it's kind of hard to see.

hey everyone, and welcome. If you were directed here after reading We Need Your Help part 1, then cool. If not, still cool.

We need you guys to nominate our site for the one to be on the Wetpaint Frontpage, so we can attract more members. Now, I know that this sounds a bit like a huge step for our users, but we would love t provide as much as you need, and to be able to do that, we need to be noticed. That's why we need all of you to nominate us to become the next Gaming Site on the wetpaint homepage. Now, i know you guys need to get something out of this, so every time you nominate us or tell someone about our site, you'll be entered for a draw. The draw is for you guys to choose how our entire site looks for a week, and then you get to choose 3 different styles after that. Plus, on top of that, you get to become an Admin on our forums, and again on top of that, you get to pick 15 different things for us to add to our site.
The second prize is the choice of our logo in the top left corner, and somethingcool... Admin for a day! The Halo 2 Skulls

This is the page for info on the Halo 2 Skulls, easter eggs which have different effects on the game. All effects last until you turn off your Xbox console. All except one skull, Blind, is only functionable on Legendary. You can still find them, but they won't do a thing. Sorry!

The Skulls...

Name: Blind
Difficulty To Get: Easiest
Effect: Completely Removes Your HUD (not so good, try aiming with no reticle)
Level: Outskirts

How to get: When you first start the level, you will be on a heaping pile of rubble. Go out through the door you see in front of you. and stop. look up and you will see a light. Jump onto the light by crouch jumping ( crouching at the peak of your jump ) and land on it. From there, turn left and there should be something that looks like a wall with stripes. Crouch jump or grenade jump on top of it. Turn left from there and go down the dark hallway. turn on your flash light, and look down. There should be a pile of frag grenades, a video-camera-ish looking thing and the Blind Skull.

Name: Sputnik
Difficulty to get: Easy
Effect: Grenades, Meleeing, and Swords, pretty much all non-bullet item (including explosions) have an insane increase ineffect (not damage, just for visuals that will blow your mind)
Level: Quarantine Zone

how to get: When you first start the level, turn around. You should see a cave. Don't worry, there are no enemies around to blow your brains out. Folow the cave, and when you exit there should be a small ledge if you just keep going. If you have a Beam Rifle, zoom in with your sniping crosshair. If you look to your right a little, there should be a little brown dot. That's what we're going for. Walk along the thin ledge next to the wall, being careful not to fall to your death, and walk. When you reach the brown dot, it should end up being the Sputnik Skull. You don't need to zoom in, it just looks cool. It floats, BTW.

Name: Black Eye
Difficulty to get: hard as you have to play through a lot of the level
Effect: Your shield doesn't charge normally. You must melee to recharge it. You can charge until you are in the full overshield status. It also unlocks some subtitles.
Level: The Great Journey

how to get: When you reach the part where you follow Johnson in a Banshee, fly out to the left of where he fires his Scarab Beam. Just keep going until you reach a grassy area. Walk along the grasslands until you reach a slanted, steep beam. Walk up it (doesn't take too long). When you reach the top of the beam, then there should be a skull on the white part. Grab it, and you found the Blind Skull.

Name: Grunt Birthday Party
Difficulty to get: Medium
Effect: Headshots make enemies explode
Level: The Arbiter

how to get: When you reach the semi-mission "To The Hunt", get into the Banshee. Then, fly down below, being careful not to fly too low (i dont think you even can) and look around. Down there under a ledge are a slew of Grunts in a circle,
dancing around. In the center of the ring of Covenant is the Grunt Birthday Party Skull. Have fun blowing people up!

Name: Unnamed
Difficulty to get: Somewhat annoying, you wait for like 10 minutes
Effect (it's a doozy): Stregnthens the Artificial Intelligence of both allies and enemies. Enemies will notice the slight shimmer of active camoflauge, your characters shadow, the sound of you reloading, along with many other subtle clues which help them find you. All computer controlled characters have better accuracy, and will no longer blow themselves up with a Rocket Launcher. A common misconception is that it makes enemies more aware of your location, however it does not.
Level: Armory

how to get: When you start off, when the guy i the white suit exits the elevator, wait for Johnson to go over there. DO NOT GET INTO THE ELEVATOR. If you do you have to start all over. Wait until Johnson says, "Would it help if I said 'Please?'" and then get in. When you get in the tram, walk all the way to the glass, look to your left a little and hold X. After a while, you will pick up the skul that whizzes by your head, the Unnamed Skull of Halo 2.

Level: Cairo Station
Difficulty to get: Medium
Effect: All Elites (Except "fixed" variants, e.i. Jet-pack, Spec-Ops), Grunts (Also except fixed variants, like gunner etc.), Jackals (Except snipers), and Brutes become their highest rank. All Covenant Flood forms have shields. All Sentinals are of the gold variety and have shields.

how to get: In the large room after the armory, you need to use a crouch-jump to get onto a light fixture on the right wall (right of the room when you enter) and then jump from there onto the higher area. There is a series of diagonal beams. Walk up one near to the end of it and use it to duck-jump onto one of the rails. You can fall between the rails, so be careful. Once on the rail, walk down it until you can jump onto the highest platform. Then bash the trashcan.

Difficulty: difficult in a way
Effect: Enemies have more health and shielding, and are therefore harder to kill. Note: health and shielding increase more as the enemies rise in rank. A red Grunt will not gain as much health as a white Grunt. Similarly, a blue minor Elite will gain a small bit of health, but a white SpecOps Elite will gain a ridiculous amount of both shielding and health, to the point that a Plasma Overcharge won't drop their shields even halfway. Besides that, it also makes your allies gain a small bit of health.

how to get: There is a semi outdoor area which has the same type of area right next to it. There is an Enforcer in front of each one. Go past this area and down the piston and you'll be in a vary dark and dank Flood infested area. There's a stack of 6 or 7 boxes as you enter the room. Use them to jump up to the landing above. There are a handful of alcoves on your right hand side. The skull is in the third alcove, floating above a dead human Flood.

Difficulty: Near Impossible. Really.
Effect: The rarity of combat dialog is changed, rare lines become far more common but common lines are still present at their normal rate.

how to get:This is by far the hardest skull to obtain. Mainly because it only appears once every seven times. You must jump onto the roofs and work your way to the area next to snipers alley without going through it. Getting seven checkpoints in the process helps as well as killing at least seven enemies. Dying before getting the skull has no effect on the chances of it spawning. There are multiple videos that can be found, detailing the path to find it. Picking it up will transport you to Sniper Ally armed only with a plasma pistol, and faced with seven waves of Ultra Elites. There's one in the first wave, two in the second, etc. You have to kill all the Elites for the skull to take effect. If you die, the skull will have vanished and you will have to start at the beginning, unless you reach a checkpoint after finding the skull. This can be avoided altogether if you simply Revert to last checkpoint instead of waiting to respawn. It helps immensely if you get the Envy or Ghost skull first. The battle against the elites is aggravating. Getting the Infinite Camo trick will help a lot also. NOTE: It will probably take nearly two hours to get this skull.
